Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis in Canada. Osteoarthritis is often described as "wear and tear" arthritis affecting joints. Osteoarthritis can affect any joint, but usually affects hips, knees, hands and the spine. In most cases, osteoarthritis occurs in people over the age of 45, although it can develop at any age. About three million Canadians (one out of ten), an equal number of men and women, are affected by this condition.
Ostenil® is a new agent approved by Health Canada for the relief of osteoarthritis symptoms. It can be used in the knee, or in any of the other joints in the body, such as the shoulder and hip. Consult your doctor for more information on this treatment.
